Barbed plastic connectors for joining MDPE pipe. Suitable for hoop making.
The 12.70mm pipe connectors fit inside tubing with an internal diameter of 12.70mm. In the UK, MDPE tubing with this inside diameter is usually sold labelled as 20mm pipe.
The 20mm pipe connectors fit inside tubing with an internal diameter of 20mm. In the UK, MDPE tubing with this inside diameter is usually sold labelled as 25mm pipe.
The 9.5mm connectors are sold for people with unusual bespoke tubing with a 9.5mm internal diameter.
All the grey connectors have barbs on them to help grip the pipe and give a tight fit. They will not pull out of MDPE tubing once fitted and cooled.
The tubing needs to be heated in hot water to soften the plastic in order to push the connector in. As the tubing cools the plastic shrinks back down onto the fitting further securing it.
The connectors have a small collar in the center. Some people file this off to enable the two ends of tubing to butt up tight against each other. Others leave the collar in place and either fill the gap with thin strips of gaffer tape or simply wrap a piece of Duct tape around the join to hold it firm and to disguise the join.
